Labels Lie

Every label you carry was written by someone else, usually in a hurry, usually for their convenience. Diagnosis, demographic, job title, reputation: each one is a box that was useful to the person doing the sorting and is now presented to you as if it were your name.

Labels Lie is an argument for the person underneath the paperwork. It takes the labels seriously enough to ask what each one actually measures, and takes you seriously enough to insist that no measurement is the whole of a human being. A book for anyone who has ever been summarized and known the summary was wrong.
