For writers

Submissions

We are building a small list of books that earn their shelf life. If your work lives in the gray, we would like to see it.

What we look for

Work that respects the reader

We publish nonfiction and idea-driven work that explores complexity with rigor and grace: philosophy, science and faith, technology and its human costs, history with modern relevance, identity, leadership, and learning. Interdisciplinary work is a feature, not a problem.

We are not the press for ideological pamphlets dressed up as inquiry, for sensationalism, or for books that exist to flatter a certainty the reader already holds. If your manuscript tells people what to think, it belongs elsewhere. If it helps people think, keep reading.

What to expect

How we treat authors

Every submission is read. You can expect professional editing, honest fact-checking, respect for your voice, and a clear distinction in our marketing between what your book claims and what it proves. You keep the rights to unpublished work you send us; submitting grants us permission to read and evaluate it, nothing more.

We respond to every submission within eight weeks. If we pass, we will tell you plainly rather than leaving you in silence.
